Hajj Imam Hussain a.s Duas for the day of Arafat

Praise be to Allah,

not a soul there is to slow down or put off His rational determination,

nor can anyone interfere with the free distribution of provisions He makes

available (to one and all), nor is any artful able to do or make like He does or

makes. He does good (of the best quality) liberally, far-reaching and all

embracing.

For the first time He created the genus of new things out of nothing.

and put in motion accurate system, knowingly, in that which He did or made.

Whatever takes root and shoots up is not concealed from His view,

nor that, which is left alone and is at rest, is deemed lost in His estimation.

He pays back, as the case may be, in return of very "work".

Whose prays humbly and convincingly is accommodated, whose goes near Him,

in need, receives (His) loving response. He is the ultimate destination, where,

whose reaches draws advantages from and profits by His hospitality.

He is evident (clear to the understanding) through the light of the conclusive Book.

It is He who listens to and accepts prayers,

drives away sorrows,

takes up to higher regions,

destroys the force of tyranny,

so there is no god other than He,

nothing (no one) can place one's self on a level with Him,

and there is nothing comparable unto Him.

It is He who hears, sees, and is aware

(of everything) in detail,

and it is He who is able to do all things.

O Allah I willingly lean upon and long for Thee,

I solemnly declare that Thou art God,

I humble myself by owning with gratitude

that Thou art my Lord-Nourisher.

Unto Thee I shall return.

I came into being when Thou mercifully said "Yes".

Prior to my becoming worthy of introduction (in this world),

Thou brought me into existence from the dust,

thereafter deposited for keeping in the procreative loins,

free from deadly dangers,

and from uncertain ups and downs in the course of events

and circumstances,

I was not neglected so as to go from the loin to the womb,

to arrive in advance, in the days of empty and unruly times.

It was Thy kind consideration, friendliness and favorable inclination towards me
that Thou did not bring me out during the rule of "unbelieving in God" leaders who
pulled apart the bounds of obligation unto Thee and denied Thy messengers

but made me come out when, well in advance, the true guidance had been made
available to (the mankind) which rendered my task easy, and amid that (facility) I
grew up.

Earlier than that Thou made generous use of Thy limitless resources and very

lovingly gave shape to Thy beautiful design, Then the beginning of my growth
started in the discharged sperm, and I passed (dwelling for a time) through three
intricacies-flesh, blood and hide,

unable to see my own growth,

and there was nothing which I could do on my own;

thereafter I was commissioned to enter this world, complete in all respects, with
an "end" in view, in the midst of true guidance, sent down ahead of my arrival. I
was taken care of in the cradle when I was a suckling infant, nursed on easily
digestible wholesome milk,

brought up in the lovingly caressing arms and bosoms, loved and cherished by
mothers,

kept safe from the clutches of demons, steered clear of ebbs and tides;so, let Thou
be praised and glorified O Merciful,

O Compassionate,

so far it is possible to use words. Thy favors, much and many, are perfected in me,
so as to leave nothing wanting.

Thou reared and educated me, year by year, progressively,

till my natural disposition reached a condition of complete excellence, in style and
substance; my intellect and judgment poised in equilibrium,

Thou made me deserving to adhere and cling to Thee by stimulating creative
thoughts in me to know Thee well and accurately.

Thy extraordinary wisdom filled me with awe and delight.

Thou made me see the light and open my eyes to contemplate for what reason
Thou has spread and scattered "things", created the heavens and the earth,

celebrate Thy praise and turn thankful unto Thee,

necessarily obey and worship Thee,

understand what Thy Messengers had brought.

Thou made it easy for me to obtain the grant of Thy approval; and in all events
and at every stage Thou very kindly and helpfully showed favor to me. Since I
was created out of the best soil, Thou did not think (any) other favor below (that)
fit for me,

and made available for me many resources,

gave me plenty and ease,

(and this was because of) that greatest of the great favor done to me.

Thy "for ever and even" kind disposition towards me continued until Thou fully
equipped me with all Thy benefits, bounties and favors.

and set me free from every (shade of) anger, hatred and grudge, Thou did not
forcibly prevent me from acting unto Thee in stupidity and boldness,

but instead pointed out the rationale which could (and did) draw me near to Thee,

and gave me an opportunity to come close to Thee.

Thou answered my prayer whenever I cried unto Thee,

Thou gave whenever I made a request,

Thou acknowledged and blessed me whenever I obeyed Thy commands,

Thou elaborately signified me whenever I thanked Thee.

And like that Thou brought to fullness and made complete Thy favors and
preferences for me. So, glory be to Thee.

Glory be to Thee, the Originator, the Perpetual who brings back all things, the
Praised, the Almighty. Blessed are Thy names.

Much, many and essential are Thy bounties.

Which is it, of Thy bounties, O my God, that I can count in number, or refer to?

Which is it, of Thy grants, that I can take up to show my gratitude?

They are, O Lord-Nourisher, much more than what the experts in accounts could
add up,

or the memory of the keen perceivers could grasp and recognize;

then, also that which Thou turned off and pushed back, O Allah, (so as to keep me
safe) from many a loss,

are more than what Thou brought out openly to circle round me and give me joy,
heart and confidence.

And I pronounce the profession of faith, O my God, with true belief,

(and it is) tied together: with my conviction-decided, sure, (with) my (confident
acceptance of Thy) Oneness-sincere, clear, (with) the interior nature and firmness
of consciousness,

(with) the light of the eyes, the coherence of sight,

(with) the lines imprinted on the forehead,

(with) the open hallow (track) for the breath of life,

(with) the supple but strong nasal cavities of the nose,

(with) the vibrations of eardrums for the hearing:

and (with) that which Thou joined and fit therewith.

two active edges (lips),

nimble movements of the tongue, uttering words,

a seat (underneath) and a palate (above) inside the mouth and jaws;

growth of the teeth,

passage for eating and drinking,

carriers laden with nerves and sinews (inside) the skull,

tube for swallowing (gullet) held fast by the connective tissues of the back,

(which) supports and surrounds the cloak of the chest,

holding the great artery (aorta),

and the vital veins, (behind) the percardium of the heart, fissures and retinues of
the lever,

and the encircling rib cage, on (both) sides,

cavity of hip-bone, the juncture of (movable and immovable bones) vertebrae.

crowding, pressing, interacting functions of the organism,

and fingers on the extremities of the body; and flesh, blood, hair, skin, muscles,
ducts, bones, marrow, sinews, and all limbs of the body;

and that which had been pieced together, in addition to above, in the earliest
stage of my development,

and that which had been handed over to me by the earth;

and my sleep, wakefulness, and rest;

performance of bowing down and prosteration.

If I resolve and make efforts, over the years, in a life-time, to thankfully express my
obligation and gratitude to Thee for even a single favor, I cannot find the words to
make it possible,

except to do what thou has very kindly made obligatory upon me in order to be
able to turn thankful unto Thee, always, day and night; again and again to be
praised for newly-acquired rare gifts, devotedly with perseverance, in the future
life.

If I crave for more, taken up with greed, to have an idea about Thy bounties, given
and to be given (with the help of export accountants), we shall neither be able to
fence in the sum total,

nor reckon, (nor) agree with each other;

also from where and how all that was made available!

Thou Thyself made known in Thy rational Book,

and Thy information was true: "If you would count the bounty of Allah you cannot
reckon it."

O Allah, Thy book is true, and also Thy information. Thy Prophets and Messengers
had conveyed (only) that which Thou communicated to them through revelation,

(and Thou) prescribed a path to walk and a law to follow, for them, and through
them-Thy religion.

In addition to this, O my God, I pronounce the profession of faith in my every
activity and effort,

and in that which I do whole-heartedly in the matter of my obedience (unto Thee)
and in my ease and comfort.

I, faithful and believing, say: Praise be to Allah who has not taken unto Himself a
son, so that he may inherit,

who has no partner in His sovereignty, so that he may interfere with or hinder in
that which is originated,

nor has He any protecting friend through dependence, so that he may lend a
helping hand in that which is created;

therefore, glory be to Him. Glory be to Him, because had there been "gods", save
Allah, they would have stirred up mischief and gone crazy, divided and ruined.

Glory be to Allah, the One and Only, the eternally besought of all! He begets not,
nor was begotten. And there is none comparable unto Him.

Praise be to Allah.

Praise (which is) equal in weight, measure and value to the praise celebrated by
His favorite angels and the commissioned Prophets.

Blessings of Allah be on His "the best individual", Muhammad, the last Prophet,
and on his pure, purified and sincere children; and also peace be on them.

[The Holy Imam, tears in his eyes, continued the prayer as under]:

O Allah make me stand in awe of Thy reverence as if (it has been) witnessed,

let me find happiness in the awareness of Thy boundaries,

do not throw me into anarchy, subversion of Thy plan, I want the (best) good for
me in Thy decisions,

and advantages in abundance in that which Thou prepare and make ready for me,

upto a condition that I do not (choose) bid to bring quickly that which Thou arrests,

temporarily to come at the end, and do not put off, after all others, that which Thou
sets in motion in advance.

O Allah let joy and bliss dwell in my heart,

sure belief (take root) in my mind,

sincerity (dominate) my work,

light (give light to) my sight, and insight (seep in) my religion.

Let me derive advantages from and take delight in my strong limbs.

Let my progeny inherit,

my knowledge and insight,

Come to my help whenever any one wrongfully take liberties with me,

and take me out from this (situation) happy and celebrated, and let it be a
refreshing sight for me to look at.

O Allah disperse the clouds of sorrows,

obliterate my shortcomings, (remove my errors), forgive my mistakes,

drive and scare away the demons (frenzy, madness, violence) from me,

keep me aloof from being held as a hostage (a pawn in the hands of Thy enemies),

and make me win the highest honors in the end as well as in the beginning.

O Allah, praise be to Thee.

for the reason that Thou not only brought me into existence but also gave me the
sense of hearing and the power of seeing;

Praise be to Thee,

because Thou not only brought me into existence but also very kindly made my
life meaningful; in fact Thou could dispense with my creation if Thou so willed, O
Lord, nevertheless, smoothed and made ready (my) "clay",

so did full justice to my make;

O Lord, whereby, it (my clay) dried up and became alive,

then, Thou let it vie in beauty and goodness;

O Lord, whereby, Thou showed consideration for me,

and gave me peace of mind;

O Lord, whereby, Thou let me go and have my own way;

O Lord, whereby, Thou lent a helping hand,

so, showed me the right path;

O Lord, whereby, Thou befriended me,

and granted me every good there is;

O Lord, whereby, Thou made me able to consume food and absorb water;

O Lord, whereby, Thou made me competent and qualified;

O Lord, whereby, Thou assisted and honored me;

O Lord, whereby, Thou covered me with Thy pure covering,

and made easy for me to get whatever I wanted from the bounties Thou has
created.

Send blessings on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad,

and help me to steer clear of the mischief, quarrels, and vicissitudes, confronting
me day and night, in the course of events, liberate me from terror in this world,
and from painful tightening bonds in the Hereafter,

keep me safe from the corruption with which the tyrants have disfigured the earth.

O Allah,

let that which threatens me depart,

and that which frightens me disappear;

keep an eye on me and my religion,

in my campaign stand by me,

and give me an heir to take charge of my family and fortune, after me,

in (the matter of) my livelihood pour out much in abundance, let me be free from
pride within myself,

(but let me) make a deep impression upon people,

deliver me from the power of men and devils,

let me not be dismissed from (Thy) favor by disobeying (Thy) commands,

do not let me put myself to shame by harboring suspicious thoughts,

do not let me wear out and lose interest in my work,

do not let me be deprived of Thy bounties,

do not let me be obliged to rely on others, other than Thee,

O my God, on him who is a kinsman but turns aside from me,

or a stranger who frowns at me,

or anybody who holds me in contempt.

Thou art my Lord and Master,

my circumstances bring forth an adverse report, to Thee,

of (my) distress, absence from home, and nothingness, (to One who) controls and
directs my interests.

O my God, therefore, do not trouble me with Thy displeasure (refusal),

(because) if Thou does not become angry with me I do not fear anything.

Glory be to Thee,

in addition Thou art very liberal in Thy favors for my well-being, so I beseech
Thee,

in the name of the Light of Thy 'Supreme Being',

which lights up the earth and the heavens,

dispels darkness,

and sets aright the circumstances of the ancients and the moderns,

not to let me be affected with Thy disapproval when I die, and do not let me ever
provoke Thee to anger,

Thou alone has the right to scold and turn aside,

Thou alone receives again into favor,

till Thou gets reconciled

before (Thou art provoked to anger),

There is no god save Thou,

the Lord of the sacred city, and the holy places dedicated to (Thy) worship, and the
Holy Ka'ba, rendered divine, a sanctuary for the people.

O He who tolerantly overlooks large number of overbearing lapses.

O He who liberally bestows diverse bounties.

O He who very kindly grants much and many rewards.

O He who makes available for me enough means in the hours of need.

O He who keeps company with me in my loneliness.

O He who takes me out from embarrassing situations.

O He who watches over me in the time of ease and convenience,

O my God and the God of my ancestors- Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob; and the
Lord-Master of Gabriel, Michael and Seraphiel,

and the Lord of Muhammad, the last Prophet, and of his distinguished children,

(It is Thou who) sent down the Old and New Testaments, the Pslams (of David),
and that which teaches to distinguish between good and evil (Furqan), and
revealed the phrases - "Kaaf-Haa-Yaa-A'yyyn-S'aaad",

"T'aaa-Haa", "Yaa-Seeen" and also the (whole) Quran, full of wisdom;

and Thou art my sanctuary when divergent and diverse opinions and theories
obscure my vision (and when) the earth, notwithstanding its abundant resources,
presses hard upon me and becomes stingy; had not Thy mercy (enfolded me) I
would have certainly been ruined.

Thou overlooked my lapses;

had not Thy shield (covered me) I would have certainly been disgraced.

Thou backed up me with Thy support against my enemies;

had not Thy support (helped me) I would have certainly been defeated.

O He unto whom belong sublimity and supremacy exclusively, but His friends
surpass in honor and glory under His authority. O He before whom rulers and kings
hang their heads in abject surrender,

frightened to death and stunned by His majesty.

He is aware of the furtive glances and that which is buried in the hearts,

and events that are lying hidden and lurking in time and space.

O He about whom no one at all knows "how" He is, except He. O He about whom
not a soul knows "what" He is, except He.

O He whom no one knows except He.

O He who surfaced the earth over the water, and plugged the space between
heaven and earth with a layer of air.

O He to whom belong the choicest names.

O Owner of everlasting "Kindness", in force till eternity, never to be cut off.

O He who influenced a troop of horsemen to ride into the waste and empty desert
for the sake of Josef; (and in this manner) took him out from the well, and changed
his fortune - from subjugation to dominance.

O He who paid attention to Jacob's cries of grief, and he was calm and restful.

O He who removed hardships and sorrows from Job.

O He who caught hold of Abraham's hand when he was about to cut the throat of
his son, in old age, at the end of his life.

O He who heard the supplication of Zakariya and gave him John and so did not
abandon him to be lonely and helpless.

O He who let Jonah come out from the belly of a large fish.

O He who cut open the sea for the children of Israel to save them, and let Pharaoh
and his troops drown.

O He who sends winds laden with clouds announcing rain before Thy mercy (drops
from the heaven).

O He who does not take people, who disobey, to task in a hurry.

O He who granted amnesty to the magicians (who confronted Moses on the behest
of Pharaoh) although they used to, day after day, deny the truth, to such a degree
that while they ate their daily food, making use of His bounties, worshipped some
one else other than Him, opposed Him, ran away from Him, and belied His
Messengers.

O Allah!

O Allah!

O He who originated the beginning!

O He who brought into being! There is no equal comparable to Thee, O
Everlasting!

There is no end (ceasing) for Thee,

O Everliving!

O He who, when there will be no living being, shall bring the dead to life again!

O He who keeps an eye on and watches over every soul, as to what for and how
(they) make efforts!

O He unto whom rarely I turned thankful but who did not deprive me of the
supports of life;

my lapses were many but He did not put me to shame;

I boldly transgressed but He did not let (my conduct) become known!

O He who looked after me in my childhood!

O He who provided me with the means of subsistence when I grew up!

O He whose favors bestowed on me cannot be counted,

and His bounties cannot be reviewed in detail!

O He who placed at my disposal goodness and kindness,

(but) I, in return, held out evil and wickedness.

O He who guided me unto the true faith in advance, before I could learn "giving
thanks" for the benefit received.

O He who was besought:

in sickness, so He restored me to health,

in bareness, so He covered me;

in hunger, so He gave me enough to eat my fill;

in thirst, so He provided with water to quench my thirst;

in nothingness, so He made much of me;

in ignorance, so He gave me wisdom'

in loneliness, so He gave me many friends;

in obscure waywardness, so He brought me back to reason and virtue,

in insufficiency, so He let me have enough to live upon;

in helplessness, so He took me to safety;

in well-being, so He did not withdraw it from me;

(whereas) I clung and held to things Thou had started, and was miserly.

Therefore, praise is for Thee, and also thankfulness.

O He who overlooked my lapses,

relieved me from anxiety and grief,

gave answer to my call, covered up my shortcomings, exempted me from (the
consequences of) my wrongdoing.

let me have that which I asked for,

helped me to get the better of my adversary,

and (how many of) Thy bounties, favors and blessings, I asked for and got, cannot
be counted.

O my Lord-Master.

Thou (it is) who:

bestowed benefits,

overwhelmed with bounties, granted favors,

treated with kindness,

gave more and more,

brought to fullness,

made available means of sustenance,

rendered (things and events) convenient and useful,

donated endowments,

relieved from privation,

imparted strength and influence, allowed to take refuge in Thy sanctuary;

arranged supplies adequate to wants,

showed the right path,

watched over,

covered up,

cancelled penalty,

made allowances,

implanted fearlessness and fortitude,

made a present of honor and glory,

assisted by aid,

strengthened by encouragement,

lent a helping hand,

gave occasion to succeed,

restored to health,

kept up well-being and welfare, gave respect and did favors. Thou gives blessings,
and high rewards,

so, praise is for Thee, for ever,

thanks are for Thee, in unbroken succession, till eternity.

However, I do, O my God, make a clean confession, therefore, forgive my lapses.

(it is) I who:

transgressed,

made mistakes,

took liberties,

acted foolishly,

failed to carry out (obligations) through carelessness,

blundered through inattention,

relied (solely) upon (others and ownself),

deliberately did (wrong),

made a promise,

but did not keep (it),

failed to have confidence,

rested satisfied without making opposition (to evil).

(it is) I who acknowledge Thy bounties, bestowed upon me, (which are) still in my
possession, feel aversion, repent and disconnect links with my (past) offences,

so free me from their burden,

O He who neither comes to grief nor suffers any loss on account of crimes
committed by the people, (on the other hand) is able to do without and dispense
with their acts of obedience also,

(but) He favors those who do good, through His assistance and kindness.

Praise be to Thee, O my God, my Master!

My God, Thou has made a constitution (but) I miscarried Thy commands,

Thou forbade by law but I indulged in Thy prohibitions, now I am wide awake (to
the fact that I have fallen into a dilemma), neither do I have a reasonable pretext
to free myself from guilt,

nor there is any power (in the whole universe equal to Thee) which may come to
my rescue,

so which "means" that conciliates Thy favor may I put forward?

O my Lord-Master!

whether my ears,

or my eyes,

or my tongue,

or my hands,

or my feet?

Are not all these Thy bounties bestowed on me?

Each of which I used to cross Thy barriers.

O my Lord-Master!

Thy allegation and proceedings are based upon sound reason.

O He who protected me from fathers and mothers lest they might have driven me
away,

from friends and brothers lest they might have reviled and dishonored me,

from rulers lest they might have persecuted me.

And if they did know,

O my Lord-Master,

that which Thou knows about me, they would have not been favorably inclined
towards me, and would have renounced, forsaken and rejected me.

Look at me. It is I, O my God, who stands before Thee, O my Master, submissive,
humble, helpless, small.

I do not have any means to demand acquittal, so accept my apology,

nor do I have any ability to rely upon, so help me,

I do not have any plea to put forward as an argument,

(as) it cannot convince,

I cannot try to maintain that I had not sinned.

How can it be denied?

Supposing that I deny,

O my Lord-Master

(then) how and where will it benefit me?

All parts of my body give testimony to that which I carried out and vouch for the
belief I was aware of; not entertaining any doubt that, verily, Thou would question
me about the important issue,

and that, verily, Thou art a just judge who does not unjustly bear hard upon
(people),

and Thy just action against me would have destroyed me.

Afraid of Thy justice I sink in the ground, O my God, because if Thou takes me to
task for my sins, Thou art justified in view of the decisive warning given in
advance,

and if Thou grants me a pardon

it would because of Thy

indulgence, generosity and kindness.

There is no god save Thou.

Be Thou glorified!

Verily I have been of the wrongdoers.

There is no god save Thou.

Be Thou glorified!

Verily, I have been among those who asked for forgiveness.

There is no god save Thou.

Be Thou glorified!

Verily, I have been among those who professed the unity of Allah,

There is no god save Thou.

Be Thou glorified!

Verily, I have been among those who stood in awe of Allah's majesty.

There is no god save Thou.

Be Thou glorified!

Verily, I have been among those who were afraid of Allah's punishment.

There is no god save Thou.

Be Thou glorified!

Verily, I have been among those who were confident that their expectations would
come true.

There is no god save Thou.

Be Thou glorified!

Verily, I have been among those who longed for (Thee).

There is no god save Thou.

Be Thou glorified!

Verily, I have been among those who beseeched (Thee).

There is no god save Thou.

Be Thou glorified!

Verily, I have been among those who declared "There is no god save Allah".

There is no god save Thou.

Be Thou glorified!

Verily, I have been among those who said "Glory be to Allah".

There is no god save Thou.

Be Thou glorified!

Verily, I have been among those who proclaimed "Allah is Great"

There is no god save Thou.

Be Thou glorified!

My Lord-Nourisher and the Lord-Nourisher of my forefathers!

O Allah! This is my praise for Thee to celebrate Thy glory.

(this is) my sincerity in remembering Thee as the One and Only God whom (alone)
I worship, and my acknowledgement of the bounties I obtained from Thee.

Although I admit to have received and enjoyed them but I cannot sum up their
abundance, frequency, usefulness,

and their taking precedence over each other to come in advance, which never
were discontinued. Thou prescribed and then attached them to me since my birth,

and right from my first day (in this world), through sufficiency, Thou set me free
from the clutches of insufficiency,

dispersed sorrows,

made available ease and comfort,

removed hardship,

mitigated pain,

kept my body in sound condition,

preserved my religion.

If (it is inferred that) I can call to memory Thy bounties and fix their quality and
quantity, (then) neither the whole universe, from the beginning to the end, nor I
have the ability to do so,

Thou art glorified and praised because Thou art the Lord-Nourisher, Kind,
Great, and Merciful.
Thy favors cannot be enumerated.
It is not possible to find words to do justice to Thy praise,
nor there is any corresponding return for Thy services.
Send blessings on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad,
and make complete the bestowal of bounties on us.
Let us take delight in Thy obedience.
Be Thou glorified!
There is no god save Thou.
O Allah, verily, Thou gives answer to the call of the helpless;
drives away evil,
comes to help the aggrieved, restores the ailing to health, makes better the plight
of the poor,
puts the "out of order" in order, takes pity on and cares for the insignificant and the
under-age, and supports the old.
There is no patron besides Thee, nor is any one more able (omnipotent) than
Thee.
Thou art the Supreme Great.
O He who sets free prisoners kept under detention.
O He who sustains babies in their cradles.
O He who grants asylum to those who seek refuge with Thee.
O He for whom there is no associate, nor a consultant, send blessings on
Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad, and give to me, in this night,
rewards, better than that which Thou granted to any of Thy servants, who received
Thy bounties as free gifts,
renew and regenerate the advantages already made available, turn off
disadvantages,
remove hardships,
listen to supplications,
accept good deeds,
overlook lapses.
Verily, Thou art Elegant in kindness and friendliness, and is aware of that which
Thou wills, and Thou art able to do all things.
O Allah! Thy nearness is nearer than any claim to intimacy, Thy readiness to
oblige is more prompt than any complaisance, Thy pardon is more generous than
any forgiveness,
Thy grants are more fulfilling than any endowment,
Thy response to requests is more attentive than any hearkening.
O He who is kind and compassionate, in this world as well as in the Hereafter.
No one is requested as Thou art besought,
no one other than Thee is expected to make expectations come true.
I called Thee, so Thou heard me,
I made a request to Thee, so Thou granted me free gifts,
I called humbly and fervently on Thee, so Thou had mercy on me, I relied upon
Thee, so Thou rescued me,
I cried unto Thee, so Thou spared me.
Oh Allah send blessings on Muhammad, Thy servant, Thy Messenger and Prophet,
and on all his pure and pious children,
and make perfect and bring to fullness for us Thy bounties. May Thy grants do us
good.
Include us among those who are gratefully thankful to Thee, and always call Thy
favors to memory,
be it so, be it so,
O Lord of the worlds!
O Allah, O He who owns,
therefore, controls;
controls, therefore, exercises absolute authority;
unites erring people (to do good),

therefore, provides protective cover;

covers and protects (so when beseeched) forgives and grants amnesty.

O the ultimate goal of the beseeching devotees!

O the last hope of the desires of the hopeful!

O He who controls everything through His (infinite) awareness,

and makes powerful and gives authority to the persevering (in His cause) through

His kindness, mercy and indulgence.

O Allah we direct ourselves towards Thee, in this night, which has been

celebrated and distinguished on account of Muhammad, Thy Prophet and

Messenger, the "Best Individual" among Thy creation, Thy confidant of Thy

"revealed communication" (the Holy Quran), the harbinger of glad tidings, the

brilliant light,

through and because of whom Thou overwhelmed the Muslims with benefits,

and made him "a mercy unto the worlds".

O Allah, therefore, send blessings on Muhammad and on the children of

Muhammad,
because, O the Greatest, Thou Thyself thinks that Muhammad deserves and

claims the right to be blessed,
so, bless him and bless all his pure, pious and purified children,

and cover us with Thy mercy to grant amnesty,
because, voices cry aloud, in every kind of dialect unto Thee,

therefore, let us, O Allah, in this night, win our share of the good Thou distributes

among Thy servants,
and the light Thou guides unto, and the mercy Thou spreads out,
and the blessings Thou sends down,
and the well-being Thou makes available,
and the means of livelihood Thou distributes, which all receive with joy,

O the Most Merciful of all the merciful!
O Allah let us be, in this hour, at the top of the ladder, growing continuously,

received into Thy mercy, happy and contented,
and do not make us one of those who despair and lose courage, do not let us run
out (become void) of Thy mercy,

do not cut off that through which we seek Thy favors,
do not let us be deprived of Thy love and kindness,
do not throw us into despair when we invoke Thy generosity to grant us free gifts,
do not reject us so as to be (condemned as) the losers,
do not push us away from Thy door, banished,

O the Most Liberal of all the liberals,

O the Most Generous of all the generous,
we yield to Thee; in sure belief,

we come to Thy "sacred house", in peace, to show submission to Thee,

therefore, help us to lead a life devoted to Thee (and carry out the ceremonies

and sacrifices prescribed in the pilgrimage to the Holy Ka'ba),

kindly let our pilgrimage be perfect in all respects,

forgive us and keep us fit and and well,

because we stretch out both hands unto Thee for seeking Thy support,

in this manner (these hands) signify the acknowledgement of humility,

O Allah, therefore, give us, as free gift, in this night, that which we ask for,

let us have enough of that which we ask Thee to give,

because there is no one "sufficient" (able and effective) for us, other than Thou,

nor anyone except Thou gives us the daily bread (sustenance).

Thy knowledge surrounds us,

Thy decisions are just and fair in matters concerning us,

choose (only) good for us,

and let us be among the good.

O Allah deem necessary and declare indispensable for us, out of compassion,

high rewards, generous endowments, and permanent ease,

and forgive us of (all) our wrong-doings,

do not cause our downfall by giving over to those who bring ruin and lay waste,

do not withdraw from us Thy love and mercy,

O the Most Merciful of all who show mercy!

O Allah, in this hour, let us be among those who make a request to Thee so get

what they want;

thank Thee in gratitude, so Thou let them grow and flourish, more and more;

of free will, again and again, call Thee in prayers, so Thou accedes to their

demands;

free themselves from the grasping hold of (their) sins and take refuge with Thee,

so Thou grants amnesty to them, O the Owner of might and majesty.

O Allah let us be pure, spotless, straight, in the right direction;

let our cries (for help) bear fruit. O the Optimum who (alone) is approached for

getting favorable response.

O the Most Merciful who (alone) is besought for having mercy on the (beseecher).

O He (from whose notice) the flash of the eye-lids cannot escape,

nor the twinkling of an eye, nor that which is concealed and kept in the mind,

nor that which is felt in the heart but not expressed.

Is it not so that (indeed) everything is in Thy knowledge!

And Thy forbearance makes room for and gives opportunity to them!

Glory be to Thee!

Let Thou be praised O the eternally besought Supreme! high and exalted above
what the unjust say!

The seven heavens and the earths and all that is therein praise Thee, and there is

not a thing but hymns Thy praise!

Praise be to Thee, Thou surpasses others in glory, and exalted be Thy honor!

O Owner of might, majesty, bounties, rewards and important benefits!

Thou art the Liberal Bestower, the Benign, the Merciful,

O Allah let me have sufficient conveniences of life;

keep me safe and sound, preserve my faith, rescue me from terror, and stop my
drift unto the fire.

O Allah do not let me fall into the trap of my own trickery, nor gradually get

destroyed, nor allow myself to be outwitted, and creep into the hole;

and keep away from me the vicious evil of men and demons.

[Then the Imam, tears flowing over his cheeks, looks up to the sky and said]:

O the Ablest Hearer of all who hear!

O the Ablest Seer of all who see!

O the Quickest of all the reckoners!

O the Most Merciful of all who show mercy!

Send blessings on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad, the auspicious

leaders.

I put forward to Thee, O Allah, my (one) request which, if Thou approves, nothing

will, harm me, whatsoever (else) is kept back from me,

and if Thou rejects it, nothing will profit me, whatsoever (else) is given to me,

(and my request is this) that Thou save me from falling

headlong in the Fire.

There is no god save Thou.

Thou art single.

Thou has not taken a partner. Sovereignty belongs to Thee.

Praise be to Thee.

Thou art able to do all things.

O Lord=Sustainer!

O Lord=Sustainer!

O Lord=Sustainer!
